Competitive
Training 07-08 Our competitive program is designed to provide junior, cadet and youth fencers with a structured training program to help them achieve competitive success and personal growth. Fencers train two or more times per week, take private lessons and participate in local, regional, national and/or international competitions. Students wanting to advance to the competitive level must prove themselves at the pre-competitive level by demonstrating hard-work and participating in local competitions. Sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline and effort are considered, along with an evaluation of the student’s technical skills. Students wanting to be considered for the junior team should have at least a year and a half of fencing experience. Admission is by approval of the coaching staff. BFC membership, USFA membership, and BFC club representation with the USFA is required. Please contact Syd Fadner for more information.
Youth Team $280 per term plus BFC membership code: yth For qualified younger fencers. Boston Fencing Club membership is required. Participants must compete at the local level, attend practice regularly, and take at least one private lesson per week. (Private lesson fees are not included in the cost.)
T/TH/S see pre-competitive class schedule Youth team members may also be invited to attend JV practices.
Junior Team JV $310 per term plus BFC membership code: jv Boston Fencing Club membership is required. Participants must compete at the local level, attend practice regularly, and take at least one private lesson per week. (Private lessons are not included in the cost.)
Mon and Wed 5-6:30pm Friday night Junior Team 6:30-8:30 JV fencers may attend Pre-Competitive classes in their age group if they wish, at no additional charge.
